NRM Graphic Design for Greater Sydney Local Land Services
Case Study
Dung Beetle Education Resources
Pull-up banners + double-sided DL flyer
Client: Greater Sydney Local Land Services
Greater Sydney Local Land Services needed a set of engaging, easy-to-understand resources to help landholders recognise local dung beetle species and understand the benefits they bring to soil health, nutrient cycling, and pasture productivity.
They required two pull-up banners for field days and events, along with a matching double-sided DL flyer that landholders could take home and use as a quick reference.
Services
Custom graphic design project, including: copywriting, design, NSW Government branding, print-ready artwork
What I Delivered
Working closely with LLS staff and a dung beetle expert, I developed clear, practical copy that balanced scientific accuracy with accessibility.
I then designed the banners and flyer in line with NSW Government branding guidelines, making sure everything was professional, recognisable, and consistent with state-wide communications.
The final deliverables included fully formatted, print-ready artwork supplied directly to their chosen local printer for:
- Two pull-up banners highlighting dung beetle benefits and species found across the region, including key details such as when they are most active (time of day and season/s)
- A double-sided DL flyer designed as a take-home reference to use in the paddock
How It’s Being Used
The resources are now used at field days, workshops, and community events, where staff use the banners for conversations and hand out the DL flyers to landholders.
These materials support on-farm biodiversity awareness, help people identify the beetle species they’re seeing on-farm, and encourage better dung beetle management across small farms in the Sydney basin.
“Danielle understands the context of our work and has the rare ability to turn complex requirements into something engaging and relevant for landholders.”

Richard’s experience working with me
“Danielle was great to work with.
What I liked most was her understanding of, and passion for, dung beetles, the many benefits they provide, and her ability to draft the copy and then communicate using adult learning principles relevant to landholders and land managers.
In addition, Danielle was able to navigate the LLS bureaucratic requirements as well as providing something that is relevant, engaging and informative to landholders and farm managers.”

What I loved about working on this project
I get just a bit excited about projects that have such a practical outcome on the ground. My honours project at uni looked at the impact of fox baiting on invertebrates, including dung beetles, so this project made my heart sing!
Dung beetles have such an important role in our grazing and food production systems, so it’s important that farmers and graziers understand how they can best encourage them. These pull-up banners and flyers go a small way to help that.
